The Greenpeace True Food guide is the only Australian guide that lets you know which food products contain genetically engineered (GE) ingredients.

We have rated common brands based on written responses to a series of questions in July 2003. The ratings are more stringent than Australian labelling laws as they reflect the use of highly processed GE derived ingredients as well as GE stockfeed.

Four successful years of True Food

Since the True Food guide was first launched in 2002, 25 of Australia's top food companies have developed and implemented GE-free policies. The guide has many fans, including chefs and food experts:

Top Sydney chef, Sean Moran: "With the help of The True Food guide, a blossoming consumer action is convincing food companies to ensure their products are GE-free. At last we are liberated from the grey clouds that have been rife in our food chain for far too long."

Nutritionist Dr Rosemary Stanton: "The True Food guide is a boon to consumers who want handy accurate information about how to avoid GE contamination in their food."
