In the lead up to the 2007 International Whaling Commission meeting, Greenpeace ran its “We love Japan, but whaling breaks our hearts” campaign.
To support this message and communicate directly to the Japanese government, we asked whales lovers to send in origami whales with whale love messages directed towards Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso.
Your response was overwhelming with over 20,000 origami whales sent in. Wherever possible we used these origami whales as part of our outreach activities including the creation of a huge origami whale as part of our recent
Big Blue March activities in Sydney.
These whales have now been sent on to the Japanese government to let it know how much we want it to stop to the whaling program.
