Purpose of the job

Planet 4 (P4) is Greenpeace’s new global engagement platform (based on a CMS) where we interact with our supporters and activists. The goal of Planet 4 is to drive people to action. Greenpeace content needs to invite participation to deliver on the promise of people power.

The P4 content coordination is a key role within the implementation and ongoing maintenance of Greenpeace's new engagement platform, Planet 4. Your main focus is to present Greenpeace content in a simple, straightforward manner so that it appeals to supporters and drive them to take actions.
To achieve this, you will have to firstly write a new content strategy and then collect, coordinate, rewrite and remix content to make it shorter and more engaging for the Greenpeace website, using appropriate tone and attitude documentation to help Greenpeace online content.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure created content accurately represents Greenpeace issues and campaigns
  • Audit & map out current content of Greenpeace website (Sitemap) and set up new taxonomy
  • Write a P4 content strategy
  • Master the new Wordpress--based greenpeace platform and mentor others to do so 
  • Recommend SEO compliant Taxonomy and URL construction 
  • Create example content that follows the Greenpeace Content Model
  • Rewrite blogs and articles to facilitate consumption 
  • Look after archived content 
  • Write best practices documentation
  • Collect, edit and write content 
  • In collaboration with the digital lead create new digital and visual content
  • Choose the best images to illustrate the website

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years experience as website content manager; Experience using Wordpress as CMS is a must.
  • Knowledge of internet culture and close familiarity with the tools, trends and landscape of the modern web.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate and explain decisions. 
  • Impeccable Dutch spelling and grammar, English represents a plus.
  • Excellent writing skills in a number of different styles/tones and capacity to adapt narrative style to different context and purposes
  • Familiarity with keyword placement and SEO best practices
  • Solid understanding on how search engines work and what people are searching for when visiting Greenpeace websites
  • Solid understanding of formatting articles on the web. Copywriting experience represents a strong plus
  • An interest and understanding of motivates people to do things online
  • Being a firm believer in environmental justice and a passionate learner
  • Excellent research and organizational skills
  • Capacity to take complex information and turn it into easy-to-understand content 
  • Experience in building best practice documentation for style guides

Additional skills and qualifications

  • Experience using code (HTML/CSS/Javascript)
  • Experience with Wordpress
  • Experience in Markdown
  • An active contributor to the open source web, or interested in becoming one
  • You are a team player
