A report in this morning's Toronto Star says the Bruce Power CEO Duncan Hawthorne will announce today that he will seek to build a new nuclear station near Nanticoke on Lake Erie. According to the report, "Hawthorne is betting that the province will need more reactors." In fact, there's no need for new reactors at Nanticoke or anywhere else in the province.
The McGuinty government has put a cap on the development of green energy to make space for the expensive nuclear stations it hopes to build. If you take the cap off renewables, new, expensive nuclear plants would be unnecessary.
