World Community Film Festival
There's nothing like the flicker of celluloid and a bag of popcorn, to stimulate social activism. February 1 & 2, the place to be on Vancouver Island is at the World Community Film Festival in Comox, BC. The two day festival includes over 40 films at 4 different venues. Themes include community economic development, environmental issues, human rights, social and women's issues, native rights and international solidarity. It might make you rethink what you’re snacking on. Saturday's program features King Corn: a documentary about two friends, one acre of corn, and the subsidized crop that drives our fast-food industry. Check out the Greenpeace and GE Free BC tables while you are there.
