In Abbotsford, British Columbia, Greenpeace activists create a 60-meter wide question mark in a cornfield containing Monsanto’s NK603 genetically engineered (GE) corn, which scientists recently linked with liver and kidney toxicity in rats. Greenpeace is calling for mandatory labeling of GE foods around the globe. Currently more than 40 countries in the world have a mandatory labeling for GE foods but in Canada and the United States, consumers do not have the right to know if their foods contain genetically engineered ingredients.
