(LEFT) Alexandra Prokopenko (age 9) has hydrocephalus, an accumulation of fluid within the cranium causing an enlargement of the head. Her father, Vitaly, quit his job to take care of his daughter and is the only one in the family strong enough to carry her.
(RIGHT) A mother of three, Akiyo Suzuki and her family evacuated to Hokkaido for a month following the Fukushima disaster. The family lives in Watari, a district in Fukushima City. She recalls finding it hard to find clear and consistent information about the health risks associated with the accident. She also noticed discrepancies between the information provided online and what the media was communicating.
