Greenpeace creates fake oil spill

June 13, 2012 (Vancouver) Greenpeace set up a mock oil spill in front of Enbridge’s Northern Gateway pipeline office, which is directly opposite the Environmental Emergency Office that it is slated to be closed as part of the Harper government’s budget cuts. The fake oil spill was created to highlight how the risks from spills like the recent one near Red Deer, Alberta are being increased by the federal budget bill that weakens environmental laws while closing scientific and emergency response facilities.
