9 April 2018 (VANCOUVER) — In response to the news that the federal government is considering investing in the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Expansion pipeline, Greenpeace Canada Climate & Energy Campaigner Mike Hudema said:

“If Justin Trudeau uses Canadian taxpayer dollars to bail out a Texas oil company’s failing tar sands pipeline, he can wave the last of his climate credentials goodbye. It’s outrageous that rather than investing in sectors of the economy that would create far more jobs and protect the environment, the Prime Minister would break his promise to end fossil fuel subsidies and try to prop up an industry that he himself committed to transitioning away from. If he does so, the beautiful words he said in Paris will be just that — words.”
