Greenpeace has created an environmentally friendly - and wildly popular - refrigerator to show the world how it is done.
Greenfreeze is Greenpeace's own market proven, green
refrigeration technology. Greenfreeze avoids climate damaging
hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and
uses ozone friendly hydrocarbons instead. Today there are over 150
million Greenfreeze refrigerators around the world, and big
industrial users such as Coca Cola, McDonald's and Unilever are
switching to HFC-free technology.
Greenfreeze refrigerators are produced by major manufacturers
includingWhirlpool and are available in most major markets.
Unfortunately, Greenfreeze refrigerators are not currently
available in North America.

Solar Chill is another new refrigeration
technology that Greenpeace is developing in partnership with United
Nations agencies, research institutes, industry and other
not-for-profit organizations. Solar Chill will provide
refrigeration for people living without reliable electricity
supplies. One of the primary uses of Solar Chill refrigerators will
be to store vaccines. Solar Chill is currently at the prototype
field-testing stage. For more information about Solar Chill, please
