Greenpeace has set a realistic goal for global wind power: 12
per cent by 2020.
Along the way, this would create approximately two million jobs
and save more than 10,700 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. Our
goal is achievable. With current technology, wind power could
supply more than twice the projected world energy demand for 2020.
The US alone has enough wind potential to supply its own energy
needs three times over. Wind power is also cheaper and easier to
deploy than most conventional energy sources. For the same
investment, wind generates five times as many jobs and 2.3 times
the power as a nuclear reactor.
