Canada is lagging far behind when it comes to wind power.
Denmark, one of the world's leaders in wind power, supplies 20 per
cent of its electricity with wind.
Germany is also rapidly expanding its wind capacity. In 2002,
Germany supplied approximately 4.7 per cent of its national energy
demand with wind power and this is expected to reach eight per cent
by 2010. Countries including China, the United States, India, Japan
and the United Kingdom are all rapidly expanding their wind
capacity.
Unfortunately, although Canada has one of the largest wind
resources in the world, we currently source less than one per cent
of our electricity supply from wind.
