Boreal Alarm: A wake up call for action in Canada's Endangered Forests

Publication - January 15, 2013
Greenpeace has identified five Endangered Forests areas in Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba that are identified as being under a significant level of threat and must be prioritized for protection. Only 10.7% of Canadian commercial forests are permanently protected under government legislation, which is not nearly enough to protect ecological values and wildlife species.

The following report identifies Endangered Forest Areas that urgently need to be conserved and the risks they face; it draws on lessons from past conservation efforts; and it outlines a path forward to achieve real solutions that work for the forest, logging companies, their customers and forest-based communities.
