Greenpeace activist in Montreal, with a barrel of genetically engineered canola for Canadian Environment Minister Stéphane Dion.

After more than three years in power, Jean Charest's provincialgovernment has failed to keep a promise made during the last provincialelection to label genetically engineered (GE)  foods in Quebec, despitethe fact that the majority of Quebec residents want to see labels on GEfood.

Greenpeacebelieves that GE labelling in Quebec would be the first steptowards provincial, and, eventually, national labelling programs inCanada. And Quebec would be the first jurisdiction in North America togo GE-free, setting an important precedent across the continent.

Greenpeace is keeping up the pressure on the Charest government, demanding action on labelling.

Take action:

Tell Jean Charest to keep his promise and label GE food.
