Quebc government has failed to keep an election promise to label genetically engineered food.
After more than three years in power, Jean Charest's provincial
government has failed to keep a promise made during the last provincial
election to label genetically engineered (GE) foods in Quebec, despite
the fact that the majority of Quebec residents want to see labels on GE
food.
Greenpeace
believes that GE labelling in Quebec would be the first step
towards provincial, and, eventually, national labelling programs in
Canada. And Quebec would be the first jurisdiction in North America to
go GE-free, setting an important precedent across the continent.
Greenpeace is keeping up the pressure on the Charest government, demanding action on labelling.
Take action: Tell Jean Charest to keep his promise and label GE food.
