Since 1998 Greenpeace has been involved in land use negotiations with other stakeholders.
Enlarge ImageSince 1998, Greenpeace has been sitting down in dreary meeting rooms, under the dim lighting of florescent lights to discuss and debate land use in the Great Bear Rainforest.
There are three planning tables making recommendations to governments, that are the outcome of discussions between the logging industry, environmentalists, labour, small business, communities, mining, tourism and recreation.
Recognizing that most of the conflict and as a result many of the solutions must come from shared understandings between the environmental groups and the logging industry a Joint Solutions Project was also formed. Here Greenpeace, Rainforest Action Network, Sierra Club of Canada – BC Chapter and ForestEthics work to move issues forward with coastal logging companies.
