Kingston— Local police arrived in full force Friday during a Greenpeace action at a Costco outlet in Kingston on day four of the campaign to confront Canada’s major supermarket chains for selling Redlist seafood to customers in the area.

Kelowna—Police arrested three activists during a Greenpeace action at a Costco outlet in Kelowna on day three of the campaign to confront Canada’s major supermarket chains for selling Redlist seafood to the Okanagan.

Greenpeace activists arrested in campaign to confront supermarkets

Greenpeace has begun a confrontation campaign to convince Canada’s major supermarket chains to stop selling Redlist species—seafood that is the most threatened by overharvesting. The key activity on the first day of the campaign (Monday May 26, 2009) was an action in Victoria in which four activists were arrested.

Lawsuit forces Canada to protect endangered killer whales

It has been a hopeful couple of weeks for B.C.’s resident orcas. This week, after two new calves were spotted off Vancouver Island, an Order was issued by the federal government providing legal protection for the endangered species’ critical habitat.
