During your next visit to your local supermarket, choose a couple of species of seafood that you are concerned about and ask the person at the seafood counter where the seafood is coming from and how it was caught or farmed.

As Canada's largest retail chain, and holder of the largest market share, Loblaw has a lot of seafood passing through its check out line. Positioning itself as a green grocer, it's time that Loblaw practices what it preaches when it comes to sustainability, and apply these principles to the oceans and the seafood it sells. To date, Loblaw has no seafood policy in place and is selling 14 of the 15 species found on Greenpeace's Redlist.
