What we do

Greenpeace is campaigning to stop the overexploitation of our oceans, marine species and coastal communities that depend on it. Destructive fishing and fish farming methods, rising catch quotas on falling stocks, illegal pirate operations, poorly managed marine resources, continued commercial and sham scientific whale hunts, and the mounting contamination of ocean ecosystems are all reasons why Greenpeace is working to protect our oceans through a global network of marine reserves.

Non-lethal whale research

The Great Whale Trail is a collaboration between Greenpeace and scientists working on humpback whales in the South Pacific. With financial support from Greenpeace, humpback whales were tagged by the Cook Islands Whale Research and Opération Cétacés (New Caledonia).
