In June our Parliament passed a motion to stop deportations of US Iraq War resisters and allow them to apply to remain in Canada. The three opposition parties voted in favour of the motion, yet on August 13 Prime Ministers Harper's Government ordered US Iraq War resister Jeremy Hinzman and his family to leave Canada by September 23. A recent national poll shows that 64 per cent want resisters to stay in Canada. What we do over the next few weeks is critical.

On September 13, join thousands of Canadians from coast to coast in demanding the government respect democracy and let war resisters stay.

Petrochemical fertilizers are choking Canadian lakes and causing 'red tides'—algae blooms that starve water of essential oxygen and foster conditions for harmful bacteria. These algae blooms lead to 'dead zones,' which have appeared around the world. Greenpeace is asking the federal government to protect Canadian lakes and oceans from algae blooms.
