Harper fails to invest in green economy


Greenpeace is condemning the Harper government for the proposed federal budget, which gives as much as $750 million dollars to nuclear energy and carbon capture and storage instead of investing those funds in the green economy Canada needs for the future.

Buying out the runway

Greenpeace UK has bought a piece of land right in the middle of the proposed third runway site at Heathrow Airport near London. The UK government plans to go ahead with airport expansion across the country, even though this means it will have no hope of meeting its climate emissions targets. With help from UK celebrities like Emma Thompson, Greenpeace is working to stop the plan in its tracks.

A caller to Greenpeace's tip line let us know about an oil leak at Enbridge tank farm in Alberta this month. Greenpeace is calling on Alberta Environment to ensure the cleanup is successfully completed and that proper measures are taken to protect wildlife.
