Greenpeace Canada is proud to announce the national launch of the official Greenpeace Living Guide. The second edition offers practical tips for environmental living. It also reflects Greenpeace's commitment to political action—looking at how each one of us can be an everyday activist.
The Greenpeace Living Guide offers real solutions for environmental living at home, at work and in your community.
"The Greenpeace Living Guide offers readers the opportunity to get serious about environmental change in their lives," says Greenpeace Executive Director Bruce Cox. "Environmental living is a process. It's an adventure. The Greenpeace guide is a companion for the adventure."
The guide is organized like an encyclopedia, with entries for a range of categories from food to flooring, from toiletries to transportation. Essays at the end of the 200-page book explore environmental issues like climate change, biofuels and nuclear energy.
"At Greenpeace, we do in-depth research into an issue to understand how to make change. Greenpeace isn't afraid to name corporations or criticize governments. We are activists," says Cox. "And this sense of courage and determination is reflected in the guide."
The Greenpeace Living Guide has been endorsed by prominent Canadians including Stephen Lewis, Sarah Polley, Ed Broadbent and Maude Barlow, who has called the guide a "must read for every Canadian." The first edition is a Canadian bestseller, with over 8,000 copies sold to the public and distributed to Greenpeace members across Canada.
"The Greenpeace Living Guide is a valuable gift for anyone interested in environmental action," says Cox. "For the holiday season, it's a good solution for all the 'enviros' on your list."
The guides, which are printed with vegetable-based inks on 100 percent post-consumer recycled, processed chlorine-free paper, are available through Greenpeace Canada member services and can be purchased by phone at 1-800-320-7183.
