We asked you what you wanted to hear in our ‘Green Tips’ column. Your responses varied, but one thing is clear: you want action. You want to send emails and make phone calls. You want to lobby politicians and organize your community. You want to do everything you can to contribute to Greenpeace’s environmental campaigns. Here are three actions you can take right now for the environment and, in particular, for climate change.

1. Set up your own, personal climate change campaign website (in a few seconds!)

Greenpeace Canada's climate change cyber-campaign can be found at www.greenpeace.ca/kyotoplus. There, you'll find opportunities to sign a petition and get in touch with your local Member of Parliament.

You'll also find something new: the chance to sign up as a Greenpeace Climate Defender. What does a Climate Defender do? First, you set up your own personal climate change website. It takes just a few seconds, and from there you can put up pictures of yourself, write a personal message, and invite friends and family to sign the KYOTOplus Petition. You'll also be able to set personal goals and fundraise for Greenpeace's climate change campaign. Think of it as your very own climate change campaign.

2. Pedal for the Planet

Want to get off the computer and out into the world with your own, personal climate campaign? Greenpeace and other organizations have organized a cross-Canada bike action called Pedal for the Planet.

Right now, everyday activist like you are leaving from both Canadian coasts for a relay ride across the country.  We’re travelling to Ottawa to deliver a strong, urgent message to Stephen Harper:  Canadians want their concerns to be heard at the international climate talks in Copenhagen, Denmark this December.

There are lots of opportunities for you to get involved. You can help organize a leg of the race—volunteers are needed every step of the way.  Or you can sign-up to ride with us when we hit your part of the country.  You can also help us by contacting your MP.

And it's not just about bikes. Over the next few months, we'll have trainings, workshops, speakers, live music and much more in cities across Canada. For a list of events and to join the bike relay, click here.

3. The best way to help Greenpeace take on climate change? Monthly giving.

The best way to help Greenpeace? Sign-up for our monthly giving program. Monthly giving is simple, easy and completely under your control. It also gives Greenpeace the steady source of income we need to plan our long-term, strategic environmental campaigns. In order to maintain our fierce independence, Greenpeace does not solicit donations from governments or corporations. We rely on committed, individual donors like you to take on urgent issues like climate change.
