The Air Pollution Index does not give the real picture

Every day the Hong Kong government releases its “Air Pollution Index” (API) which is based upon an outdated standard called the “Air Quality Objective” (AQO). The AQO is not as stringent as World Health Organization air quality standards and does not accurately reflect the safety of the air we breathe. Research shows that public health problems caused by air pollution are costing at least HK$11 billion annually.
