Greenpeace is committed to accelerating the phase-out of
HCFCs and HFCs while promoting the commercialization of natural refrigerants
used in cooling equipments.
Our work involves raising public awareness on F-gases and
natural refrigerants, voicing our concern in intergovernmental forums on
climate change, and lobbying national government to enact time-binding
legislations that discourage the use of HCFCs and HFCs.
Most importantly, we are working with leading refrigeration
and air-condition users as well as leading manufacturers to increase the market
demand for natural refrigerants. We have already had success in this area, with
a major group of companies forming the
Refrigerants, Naturally! coalition to push the issue forward.
Greenpeace challenges companies—whether they are
refrigeration users or appliance manufacturers—to join the effort in
phasing-out the use of HFCs and HCFCs in their businesses in favor of natural
refrigeration technology.
