Green tips for everyday living -- There are small simple changes we can all incorporate into our daily lives which can really make a difference.

Reduce energy use

Use energy-efficient light bulbs. They last 10 times as long and only use a quarter of the energy of regular bulbs.

Use a fan instead of your air con if you can. If it's super sweltering, keep your air con above 25.5 degrees.

Eat healthy

Eat less meat

Buy green

Avoid buying toys containing PVC as they contain poisons which can harm children.

Replace your mobile phone and computer only when needed not when fashion dictates. Electronic waste is toxic -- the more we buy the more e-waste piles up.

Love forests

Use paper sparingly and use both sides.

Buy books and magazines printed on recycled or Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper.. Use both sides of the paper.

Buy furniture and wood products carrying the FSC label.
