Greenpeace calls for green rules for Olympics |
| |
The Beijing Olympics may be over, but London’s already preparing for 2012. The Games come with a heavy environmental cost but that cost can be minimized if host cities are made to follow green guidelines.
Greenpeace wrote a letter to Jacques Rogge, the president of the International Olympic Committee, last Monday asking him to draw up a list of binding environmental regulations for future Olympics.

BASF campaign heats up |
| In July, we urged you to send a letter to the chief executive officer of BASF, the world's largest chemical company, urging him to come clean |
about the company's environmental record in China.Greenpeace had discovered high levels of pollutants discharged directly into the Huangpu River around BACC, one of BASF’s plants in Shanghai. BACC refused to confirm whether it was responsible.
As the company has not responded to our request– thank you to all of you who helped us our online action -- we will step up the campaign. Greenpeace will continue investigations of BASF's factories. We will also approach the local government to see if we can use legal means to get BASF to come clean about its pollution record.
