We are seeking a dedicated professional to lead the development of changing energy investment in China. You will work with energy and finance campaigners inside and outside of China to develop and implement effective plans to change energy investment so that China can power its growth with clean and low-carbon energy.
1. Main responsibilities:
1.) Assist the Climate & Energy team in providing overall long term vision and strategy with respect to Greenpeace engaging investors and the financial industry for China's clean energy sector.
2.) Identify the key coal industry issues, and cost drivers for coal price trends, and develop forecasting models, analyze government policy standards to shift China towards a less coal-dependent development path.
3.) Lead the Climate & Energy's team work into driving investment in Clean Energy and Energy Efficient technologies on key policy, regulatory, and industry dynamics.
4.) Provide overall vision and develop action plans for engaging China's financial markets towards the development of a effective carbon cap and price, that lays the groundwork for a domestic carbon trading scheme.
5.) Develop and leverage critical networking relationships particularly in the Finance and Energy sector to support Greenpeace's strong presence in China. Ensure smooth operations; including efficient and effective communications between the East Asia team and Greenpeace's offices abroad.
2. Who you are:
Background from top-tier management consultancy, strategic advisory and/or significant working experience in corporate finance, venture capital, investment banking or energy finance related work. A track record of bringing in private investment flows into energy and infrastructure projects or excellent experience working in the energy (either renewable or fossil fuel based) industry would be of interest.
Ability to do independent investigative and intelligence gathering work with excellent knowledge of financial sector, clean energy issues, market players, and trends. Knowledge of China's local market dynamics would be a significant plus.
Able to network and interact with China's energy and finance professionals, government officials, policymakers, and regulators and engage in debates about clean energy trends, market dynamics and regulatory issues.
Strong financial modeling skills and adept at using Bloomberg, Thomson or Project Finance International and other information databases. Adept at analyzing trends, developing the big picture and deciding on the best course of action.
Possess business astuteness, be results oriented, have demonstrated analytical skills, and be process oriented. Successful individual will also be able to establish strong working relationships with colleagues, peers, subordinates, and staff outside hierarchical structure.
Relevant bachelor's degree in business or finance with excellent academic qualifications. CFA, MBA, or related post graduate qualifications would be advantageous.
Fluency in Chinese language with good communication skills. Good spoken and written English.
