Renewable energy, energy efficiency and new environmentally sound technologies – already exist.

Renewable energy is a viable, practical solution to power our life. Renewable energy can eventually supply the vast majority of the world’s energy but only if governments have the commitment to implement the necessary policies.

A Greenpeace report, China Energy [r]evolution, found that an increase in energy efficiency would reduce China’s energy demand by 40% by 2050, and renewable energy could satisfy over 50% of the country’s electricity consumption.

Clean, Versatile, and Abundant

Clean energy comes from the Earth’s natural resources – sunlight, wind, waves, tides and geothermal heat. As a source of power, it has two great advantages: it will never run out, and it does not pollute the planet or cause dangerous climate change.

Clean energy is versatile. It can meet a broad spectrum of our power demands – from supplying major cities to powering small settlements in remote locations, unconnected to any electricity grid. The sheer range of clean technologies means that one technology or another will be appropriate for almost every community – and can be built close to where it is actually needed.

Clean energy is abundant. Solar power alone has the potential to meet the world’s energy needs many times over.

And it is perfect for China, which has some of the best and most accessible clean energy sources in the world. By being at the forefront of the growing technologies, China could reap huge industrial, economic and employment advantages.

The time has come for us end our addiction to fossil fuels and other climate-damaging technologies. Here you can discover how clean renewable energies, like wind, solar, bioenergy, and other sources can combine to create a clean energy revolution.
