Netflix, Twitter, Zappos and Discovery Communications are just some of the renowned brands supported by Amazon. While driving incredibly popular online capability, the company is disturbingly quiet about the environmental impact of its server farms.

While on IT’s leading edge, Amazon is trailing the pack in environmental impact disclosure and energy sourcing. To Amazon’s credit, it has demonstrated a dedication to energy efficiency, adopting modular data centers and sharing efficiency insights with industry peers.

However, there has been little if any comparable concentration on renewable energy investment.
