Gene expression is far more complex than the crude method of inserting a gene from organism A to organism B. Minute differences in the way target genes are expressed (i.e., put into use) may alter the growth and development of receptor organisms. These small but critical differences may subsequently pose a threat to human health and environment. A growing body of scientific research is revealing the various health and environmental unintended effects of genetic engineering.
