A small boy walks through the smog of Donglu, on the outskirts of Linfen, where villagers have difficulty in selling their crops because of the severe pollution. Following ongoing public outcry regarding the nation's air pollution, last year China announced a new aim to reduce coal consumption from four key provinces by 83 million tonnes by 2017 – the first time in history that the government has mandated negative growth targets for coal. However, the exact roadmap of the reduction is unclear.
