The perfect penguin day in Seoul

Last Sunday South Korea kicked off with their big national festival, The Yeosu Expo, an event that goes on for three months. The expo theme this year is "Living Ocean and Coast" with lots of pavillions and organisations promoting ocean conversation and sharing knowledge on the proper use of the ocean and coast. Not to mention recognition of the need for cooperation in the marine sector.

And of course, Greenpeace was there, along with our partners from the Antarctic Oceans Alliance. We also had five Penguins all paired up to staff members with volunteers roaming the large expo complex talking about Greenpeace and our campaign. The penguins were very popular with kids and family, who endlessly took photos.

The penguins represented the pristine and beauty of the Antarctic, and along with our hardworking volunteers managed to garner over 500 petition signatures calling for protection of the Antarctic Ocean. You can join them by signing too!
