Success! UNIQLO commits to Detox!
Success! UNIQLO commits to Detox!
Another fashion brand is detoxing. Japan's leading international casual wear brand, Uniqlo, begins the new year with a public commitment to eliminate all releases of hazardous chemicals throughout its entire global supply chain and products by 2020.
This comes just a month after Zara, Mango, Esprit and Levi's announced similar individual commitments, responding to waves of pressure from activists and consumers around the world. The rising tide of people power has again shown what it's capable of. Thank you for help clean up the fashion industry and stop toxic water pollution!
Doha and Pablo
Doha and Pablo
Dryness. Devastation. Desperation. These were what we encountered when we travelled to the Philippines last month to witness the destruction from Typhoon Pablo. We had earlier sent our ship, the Esperanza, with emergency supplies for the typhoon's victims – we may be first and foremost an environmental organization, but we also have a heart.
While the typhoon was raging, and giving governments latest evidence of the signs of climate change, Greenpeace was at the Doha climate talks, lobbying governments to stop climate change. Unfortunately, politicians in Doha showed how completely out of touch they were with the reality of climate.
