Oil spill response agreement is shocking
Did you know that the fate of the Arctic is partly in the hands of an international body called The Arctic Council?
As more and more oil companies explore for oil in the Arctic it is crucial that the Council comes up with an effective contingency plan in case of an oil leak disaster.
Greenpeace recently acquired a leaked copy of a draft of the Council's oil spill response agreement and we were shocked at what it said.
We were even more shocked at what seems to be collusion between the Council and oil industry representatives on making the plan.
Why was it so shocking? Read about the leaked plan here
Luckily, we have time before May when the Council meets to discuss the plan to push for a radical change in the wording.
But we need your help. Please add your voice to the call for a ban on offshore drilling in the Arctic, before it’s too late!
