Emergency! China's Shangri-La in Danger
I’m sure you know that China’s Yunnan is also known as the legendary Shangri-La. But that paradise is being cut away by chainsaws.

Our latest investigation - based on analysis of satellite images and field work research - discovered that Yunnan's precious primeval forest now only makes up just 9% of total forest coverage in the province. And what is left is under threat of also being felled unless we take action now.
Even more alarming: There is a good chance that one-quarter of Yunnan's wildlife will be driven to extinction, including the beautiful hoolock gibbon in just a few decades.
In 2011, we exposed the fact that Hainan's rainforest coverage had fallen by one-quarter over the previous decade. Our research helped to push the local government to place 99.9% of remaining forest coverage under strict protection. With you behind us, we can transfer our amazing success in Hainan and help protect the forests of Yunnan!
