Ten months of intensive campaigning by Greenpeace, other environmental groups and an outpouring of opposition from the Hong Kong public has finally forced property developers SHK and NWS Holdings to back down from their demolition plans.
Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited decides to demolish the newly built Hunghom Peninsula development. At the same time they are jointly bidding, with Cheung Kong (Holdings) Limited, to develop the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD).
Greenpeace and Chinese language youth magazine, East Touch, are jointly organising a “Call For Peace” T-Shirt Design Competition.
