On Monday 3 March, EU environment ministers will have their first official debate on the Commission’s recent proposals for new legislation on climate & energy (also known as the climate & energy package) and on carbon dioxide emissions from passenger cars. Greenpeace is urging ministers to use this opportunity to inject a greater level of climate ambition into the EU plans.

Ministers will also be adopting conclusions on biosafety and biodiversity ahead of two international meetings on the issues in May. Discussions on Monday come only days after the publication of a Greenpeace and GeneWatch UK report on contamination caused by GM products (see published Greenpeace reports).
