The African queen: Laden with Greenpeace activistsThe African queen: Laden with Greenpeace activists.

After a highly successful boat training near the waters of Sri Lanka. It was time for training Part II to commence. Campaign training.

So on the fateful day, campaigners from all over South east asia descended on this little boat we call home. And in the chaos that usually marks the beginning of any such event, the campaign training began.

One of the most exciting parts of the campaign training is something called role play. During this little exercise, People take on different role in a classic Greenpeace Action scenario. Some of us play the good guys, some of us play the bad guys , and some of us even play the ego centered celebrity who wants to be the centre of attention ( I played the celebrity , of course) . All on a little boat called the Esperanza.

Even the ship gets to play a part with the top deck being the Greenpeace ship, and all the other decks being the Greenpeace target.

Of course chaos ensues. Of the most wonderful kind. The ‘Greenpeace activists’ get threats, and dirty organics and fire hosed and eventually arrested (very much like real life).

Here is a little gallery of how the training day looks like:
