Nikita Crasta is one of the oldest supporters of Greenpeace India Nikita Crasta

Most of us are so busy living our daily lives, meeting daily challenges that we don’t have the time or the inclination to pay heed to our environment and its resources. When you come across someone who’s doing it for us the least you can do is provide support in whatever way you can.

That’s what I did, when ten years ago, Greenpeace India representatives came to the company in which I was an employee. They were looking for individuals who would make financial contributions to support their campaigns. I didn’t require much convincing to sign up.

I am a very strong supporter and believer in protecting our environment, natural resources, wild life etc. With this basic characteristic in my personality, it was natural for me to become a supporter of Greenpeace. In fact, years ago, I even applied for a job with Greenpeace.

For the past ten years I have been supporting Greenpeace India because I am very proud of the work that Greenpeace does. At the risk of sounding corny, Greenpeace does things; I wish I had the time and wherewithal to do.

It makes me very happy to contribute, in the miniscule way that I do, to this work. I am proud to be a member of the family of Greenpeace supporters. I believe all of us together can make a world of a difference if we try in whatever small way we can. For those of you who are yet to become supporters, your support is valuable and will make a difference.

It does not seem too long ago when I first signed up for Greenpeace. But it’s been ten years since Greenpeace India came into being and it’s been an incredible journey to say the least. As a Greenpeacer would say, “There’s lots more which still needs to be done.”

Happy tenth birthday Greenpeace India! May you and your ilk celebrate a lifetime of Happy Birthdays. God bless you all and I pray that people realise what you are doing and learn from your example.
