Seventeen Greenpeace activists unfurled a banner at the Food Corporation of India in New Delhi. The message, 'No to GM, Yes to Food Security', was a response to Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawars statement supporting genetically modified crops.
Twelve of the seventeen activists who participated in this action were detained by the police for twelve hours. They were released on bail and have been charged with criminal trespass.
Genetically Modified crops are a threat to our health and agriculture. Along with other organisations, Greenpeace India has been opposing the introduction of this dangerous technology in our country.
