Tigers reach coal ministry. Minister agrees to discuss forests

In true Greenpeace style, eighteen life-size tigers, and three tiger mascots blocked the entrance of the coal ministry's office at Shastri Bhavan in New Delhi. They were there to deliver the message of over 1 lakh people who want forests to be preotected from coal mining.

Though reluctant initially, the minister finally agreed to meet the Greenpeace representative. The representatives, along with the tiger mascot Sheroo, met minister Sriprakash Jaiswal and delivered all the petitions. The minister agreed to a detailed meeting on the issue as well.

Watch the story unfold in the pictures below:

Forests in Central India are threatened by coal mining. These forests have a large tiger population and they support the livelihood of millions of people as well. Coal mining here will destroy the tiger and other wildlife population and the livelihood of people as well. Greenpeace India has been campaigning to protect these forests from coal mining.
