A Greenpeace demonstration outside the Auto Expo 2008 highlighted the threat the rapidly growing Indian car industry poses to the climate. By 2050 one in every six cars will be driven by an Indian. The Co2 emissions from the Indian automobile industry in the coming decades in supposed to be massive. Greenpeace is demanding that mandatory fuel efficiency standards for cars be introduced.
