Forests in Central India are being threatened by the coal ministry's ambition to mine more coal. These forests are home to a large number of tigers and other wildlife species. They also provide livelihood to millions of people. Coal mining will impact all of them.
Greenpeace India has been campaigning to keep these forests safe from coal mining. Renewable energy, energy efficiency measures and the coal available in the existing mines can provide electricity. The forests can be saved.
