Delhi, 15 June 2015 - Greenpeace India reiterates its unconditional apology for the way it responded to the sexual harassment of one of our colleagues. We did not do justice to her complaint (or others) and we hope to right these failings in future.
We are committed to a safe and equal workplace for all our staff, where people are free to work and live without harassment of any kind. Unfortunately, we have not always lived up to these expectations in the past.
We are investigating what happened and will ensure these wrongs are made right. Everyone at Greenpeace India deeply regrets what happened and we are committed to ensuring this never happens again.
Greenpeace International will also be working closely with the Board and leadership of Greenpeace India in taking concrete measures to ensure that the organisation is able to deal with these cases effectively, moving forward.
The alleged rape is a separate incident, one that we were not made aware of until February 2015. We are deeply concerned by these allegations and have expressed support for a police investigation.
