13th December, 2013 in Dharamjaigarh, Chhattisgarh: Elephants in the Dharamjaigarh forest. Every year farmers have to face lots of problem to save their crops from the wild elephants in this area. Elephants also damage their property in the villages. As the increasing rate of coal mining engulfs the forest area day by day in Chhattisgarh, elephants are suffering from shortage of their proper amount of food. As a result sudden entry of herds of elephants to the village areas in search of food is becoming almost a regular matter. Villagers in Dharamjaigarh area have to live in panic as dozens of people have been killed by wild elephants in recent years in the region.
