Reflections from Direct Dialogue Recruiters

Initially it was tough to explain how sinking of Rainbow Warrior relates to

peace in the Indian context. However, it was great seeing kids coming up

with ideas and we were open to discuss what peace meant to them.

We got tremendous response from people in Chandigarh. They came forward in

large numbers and wrote messages of peace, hope and concern about our

fragile planet. Most of them also opposed any kind of a war or conflict.

Children showed great enthusiasm and came up with a wide variety of ideas on

peace.

Wearing sailor caps in Chandigarh was quite funny as most of the people

haven't seen sailors! Talking to people about their perspective on peace was

quite engaging and challenging.

In the process of mobilizing peace through dialogue and written messages, we in greenpeace were challenged as we helped Indian citizens especially schoolchildren express their vent up feeling about peace; they now want to act on them…………
