Monsanto and the US Government have been telling the world that genetically engineered crops pose no contamination threat to natural indigenous species. But Greenpeace has learned from a leaked report that NAFTA disagrees and is recommending steps to avoid a genetic threat to natural maize in Mexico. Surprise, surprise: the Bush Administration is attempting to suppress the report.

Giving up on GE: Greenpeace exposes truth about Bayer's 'Crop Science'

In an admission of immense significance to the entire genetic engineering (GE) industry, Bayer Crop Science has conceded to Greenpeace India that all its projects on genetically engineered (GE) crops have been ‘discontinued.’ This admission is a direct result of a protracted direct action by Greenpeace at the Bayer headquarters in Mumbai on 30th September 2004.

Monsanto pays fine for bribery

What do you do if you're trying to plant genetically engineered cotton in a hurry, but the government wants to make sure there won't be any environmental damage from doing so? If you're the giant Monsanto corporation, one answer might be: bribe somebody to skip over that pesky environmental assessment. Who knows how many times this tried and true practice has worked before? This time, they've been caught red-handed in Indonesia, and fined US$1.5 million.

Greenpeace exposes Government-Monsanto nexus to cheat Indian farmers

One day before Bt Cotton comes up for review before the Genetic Engineering Approval Committee (GEAC), Greenpeace and Sarvodaya Youth Organization released the two versions of a report prepared by the Joint Director of Agriculture (JDA) of Warangal district, Andhra Pradesh. While the data in the original report reveals the comprehensive failure of Bt Cotton in Andhra Pradesh, a second, visibly tampered-with version exaggerates the yields, thereby reducing Monsanto’s compensation burden by nearly Rs. 2 Crore.

GEAC – Protector or Perpetrator?

The overwhelming evidence on the failure of Bt cotton in Andhra Pradesh and gross regulatory failure of Bt Cotton across the country has forced the GEAC not to renew Monsanto’s permission for Mech- 12, Mech- 162 and Mech –184 varieties introduced in 2002. This decision has been deferred for review to the 13th of April.

Five years after the hype on the so called "Golden Rice" started, Greenpeace claims that this project is a technical failure, not suited to overcome malnutrition and worse, is drawing funding and attention away from the real solutions to combat vitamin A deficiency (VAD). Greenpeace expects that industry scientists will shortly release new propaganda on Golden Rice, misleading the public again on real solutions for VAD.
