Purpose of the job
Under the guidance of the Chief Editor or a Communications Manager, develop and implement communication strategies and creative concepts for communications projects, in line with the identity guidelines and in cooperation with the resource pool, in order to raise organizational and campaign awareness in the public.
Plan and execute the delivery of such strategies.
Main responsibilities
1. Management
Functionally lead and manage members of the resource pool working on communication projects, in conjunction with the Chief Editor/Communications Manager and Resource Pool Manager, in order to enable the realization of the communication program objectives.
2. Budget
Monitor expenditure of communication projects within her/his responsibility, according to agreed objectives and the priorities to ensure cost effectiveness and strategic expenditure.
3. Strategy
in conjunction with Chief Editor/Communications Manager, develop, initiate and oversee the implementation of innovative, creative, pro-active and reactive communication strategies for their assigned projects that ensure consistency with identity guidelines, in cooperation with partners in other functions such as campaigns, fundraising, actions and communications teams in the NROs, the resource pool and outsourcing agencies.
Implement such strategies and coordinate rollout of material across NROs and external international partners in order to provide a high level of media (traditional and non-traditional) exposure internationally ensuring success of our campaigns and improvement of our organizational profile.
4. Alignment on policy
Ensure all communication material produced by GPI and NROs is in adherence to editorial policies and in line with the identity guidelines across all platform.
Skills required / qualifications
Required:
- Degree or equivalent in journalism or similar
- At least 3 years professional experience in communications
- Proven success record in campaign based communications
- Knowledge of NGO arena
- Experience in working in international environment and coordination of rollouts across global markets
- Articulate, creative, passionate, tenacious with excellent written and spoken English
- Ability to conceive and implement ideas single-handedly as well as ensure that those around deliver.
