Daimler are best known for their Mercedes brand but also own Smart and Maybach. Like fierce rivals BMW Mercedes optimise their cars for driving on the no speed limit autobahns of Germany, and the result is cars with a performance that most of their customers can’t even use legally, never mind need.

Daimler don’t just make Mercedes cars like the E-class, they also make Smart cars like the tiny Smart Fortwo  and SUV’s like the huge G-Class. The Daimler Chrysler flagship is the Maybach, a car that emits a staggering 405g of CO2 per km.
